Text Box: The Chairs for Charity Exhibition and Sale
Welcome to the website of The New England Art Therapy Association.
NEATA is reaching out to art therapists, who are working in Mississippi and Louisiana. In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita their communities have been disrupted and scattered. Our friends at the Louisiana Art Therapy Association tell us that there is a continuous need for mental health services in these areas. Local mental health professionals are dedicated individuals who often work overtime, despite having lost their own homes. Their personal needs as well as the community’s needs have caused many to experience secondary trauma.
What has NEATA done? We have asked art therapists and their communities to each take a dilapidated chair and breathe creative fire into it. The result is 30 plus chairs that are a wonder to behold! You can be the proud recipient of one or more! Follow the instructions below.
Please give generously to these Steel Magnolias of the South! They are truly amazing women give tirelessly to their communities.
Here is what you can do- follow the instructions below!
1. Select a chair from the poster. We ask that each full size chair start with a minimum $50 bid. Subsequent bids will be in $5 increments. Request the chair that you wish to bid on by the artist's name.
2. All bids will be tallied via email by contacting our NEATA treasurer Anne Pennington at ahpennington@msn.com. E-mail bidding will close at 5:00pm on January 12th.
3. Donations are welcome for this fundraiser. If you do not wish to bid on a chair, but would like to donate funds please contact Anne Pennington at ahpennington@msn.com. Please note - there are other forms of donating as well – raffle tickets for 2 very special chairs not on the poster by Lesley’s own Jennifer Navarro and Julianne Hertz.
